Today dawned on me that I hadn’t seen my little cousin in about two years. I moved out of state right after I graduated college and the last thing we did together was buy a couple of bike racks for cars. He was in high school at the time but now he’s in college, so I decided to take a road trip home. We had a lot of catching up to do and all I could think about as I was driving home was how fun it was going to be a see him. I wondered if he was going to look a lot different like people do sometimes. The whole drive home all I could think about were those bicycle racks, which struck me as rather odd.
When I got to my parents house that evening I realized that it was still going to be another day before I would get a chance to see him. He was driving down from college and I learned that he was doing really well in school. He was on the Dean’s List and he even got a part-time job waiting tables. He was well on his way to making something of himself, which made me oh so very proud. I went out and looked at that same bicycle rack that we installed and all of the memories of that day started rushing back into my mind.
